Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the social and legal protection of war veterans in Ukraine and abroad. It examines the provision of veterans’ needs and the adaptation of best international practices. The article explores modern approaches to the socialization and adaptation of war veterans. It addresses the pressing issue of social protection for war veterans in the context of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The author analyzes the complexity of social challenges faced by combatants and their families, emphasizing the need for a systematic approach to reintegration and socialization of veterans. The international experience of veteran support in countries such as the USA, the United Kingdom, Estonia, and Croatia is considered, as well as the possibility of adapting these practices in the Ukrainian context. The article identifies key areas of state policy in ensuring the rights and guarantees for this category of the population, including medical, psychological, and financial support. Particular attention is paid to the creation of a comprehensive national support system for veterans, taking into account international legal standards, innovative approaches, and the specifics of Ukraine's economy.
